Julie is the Owner & Director of The Base Yoga. She found yoga when attending a gym yoga class to simply 'give it a go.' It was then she realised something had shifted within that made her acknowledge the importance of dedicating mindful time to yourself.......and yoga offered exactly that.
For well over a decade Julie has been practising yoga. Having worked and travelled for over 10 years in the corporate world, and having two children during this time, she then learned how sacred it is to nurture the mind and body in different stages of your life.
Julie completed her Yoga Teacher Training with the Byron Yoga Centre in 2015 and has since been accredited with her Restorative & Prenatal qualifications with Bliss Baby Yoga, Yin Teacher Training with Warrior One Yoga, as well as completing her Meditation Teacher Training with the Melbourne Meditation Centre.
Julie enjoys teaching a range of yoga styles including Power & Slow Flows, Restorative & Yin, whilst incorporating Pranayama (breathing techniques) and Meditation into each class for a well balanced practice.
A beautiful journey of how life comes around full circle in different seasons, Julie commenced her yoga 'studio' practise at our studio, under a previous owner, whilst pregnant with her second child, (after many years of general yoga at the gym.) Although Julie has always taught pre & postnatal yoga since becoming a yoga teacher, she has recently given birth to her third baby and was blessed to share her own prenatal journey whilst facilitating our pre & postnatal classes too.
Irrelevant of the class style, Julie guides her students towards healthy thinking, creating positive habits for her students' personal wellness. She also encourages her students to listen to their body every time they step onto their mat, supporting them to explore practical alignment relevant to their own bodies requirements - purposeful and mindful movement of the body.
Whilst Julie cherishes and honours the practise of yoga, her classes are designed to be uplifting, enjoyable and fun.
